Weekends are filling up with pancake breakfasts, dog parades, and live music. Seeing these familiar corners of town refreshed and full of life is a reminder that growth here can still feel personal, connected, and a little exciting.

Spring is in the air, and it’s impossible not to feel it too.

🌮 Agave spirits and soulful Mexican-American plates

131 S Gay St, Knoxville, TN
Chismoso feels like being let in on a well-kept neighborhood secret. Tucked onto South Gay Street, this comida trades televisions for conversation and a world-class selection of additive-free tequilas.
The menu bridges the gap between traditional Jalisco flavors and modern Southern craft: don't miss the Mexican cornbread with jalapeño honey butter or the surprisingly soul-warming spaghetti verde! It’s a reliable corner for a low-key date or a bright Paloma.

⛳ Chasing birdies without checking the radar

10947 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN
Since opening last summer, The Turn has quickly become the favorite indoor haunt for dialing in a swing.
The atmosphere gives more modern living room than a typical range, with leather armchairs and high-end simulators that let you play world-class courses regardless of the Tennessee humidity.
Between the $25 monthly memberships and the accurate tech, it is a bright addition to our corner of town.

🏗️ Burlington’s Historic Storefronts Come Back to Life

The Gist: Knoxville native Terri Cade-Hill is breathing new life into Burlington by restoring six historic buildings she has owned since 2005. After two decades of updates to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, these revived spaces are now attracting small businesses. New neighbors already moving in include a medical clinic, a natural hair salon, and a beauty team serving the film industry.
Why It Matters: This long-term restoration preserves our local history while bringing essential services and jobs back to the heart of the neighborhood. Cade-Hill is currently recruiting more small businesses to fill the remaining spaces, and the city is beginning streetscape improvements to replace aging sidewalks and lighting.
🥞 Flips and Funds at the O’Connor Senior Center

The Gist The 27th annual Pancake Fest returns on Friday, March 27, bringing the community together for an all-you-can-eat breakfast. From 7 a.m. to noon, local leaders and media personalities will serve up pancakes and sausage to support senior programs. Guests can explore a Senior Expo and Artisan Fair, or simply grab a meal to go via the convenient drive-thru.
Why It Matters This long-standing tradition provides essential funding for the O’Connor Senior Center while offering a space for neighbors of all ages to connect over a shared meal. Tickets are available for $10 in person at the center or online at their website:
