The Gist The Harkey family recently returned to Knoxville to share a heartfelt thank you with the firefighters who saved their coonhound, Kaplyn. During a devastating December fire at the Collective at Sutherland, crews braved the flames to rescue the trapped pup while her owner watched in a panic. Though the fire caused significant loss for many residents, this week was about celebrating the life that was saved.

The Gist Actors Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl visited East Tennessee to hand-deliver lunches with CAC Mobile Meals. The couple also presented a $5,000 donation to the organization, fueled by profits from their sourdough bread business, Duffy’s Dough. Their visit highlighted how a simple meal delivery often serves as a vital wellness check for our homebound neighbors.

At three years old, this 62 pound American Pit Bull Terrier is the perfect mix of play and poise.

She is famously food motivated and thrives during training sessions, especially when treats are involved. While she is a social butterfly with other dogs and loves a good car ride, her rambunctious nature is best suited for a home with children aged 10 and up.

Because she finds the game of chase irresistible, she requires a cat free environment. You can find her at Young-Williams Animal Center for a $50 adoption fee.
